The Republican National Convention Milwaukee host committee awarded its first noteworthy contract Thursday--- a fairly modest one for merchandise-like apparel, caps and mugs--- and the winner hopes it leads to her firm winning more business related to the 2024 events.

Candace Lillund, who owns Proforma ScoutPromotions, estimates the contract is worth $30,000.

Host committee chief operating officer Alison Prange announced Thursday what she said was the committee's first award of a contract through a request-for-quote process.  Request-for-quote contracts are for smaller amounts of under $50,000 compared with request for proposals, which consist of larger contracts.

The merchandise will be emblazoned with decorations specified by the RNC Milwaukee host committee.
